ROOM DIVIDERS

Cut Out Screens

Room dividers create a wow factor in a space. Their function is to separate different spaces within a room. There are so many different types of room dividers one could use. The following room dividers have been laser cut into different shapes, patterns and sizes.

Timber Room Dividers

Timber room dividers are often used to introduce a natural feeling to a space. This material can be crafted into such wonderful features of a room. Sometimes using timber and metal helps change the look of the divided space. Timber is often viewed at its finest with natural light beaming behind it. Leave it natural or paint it a colour to tie in with the space, the choice is yours!

Unique Room Dividers

Who said that room dividers needed to be simple? There are different techniques and ways to divide a space that completely changes the atmosphere of the space. Some ways are using unique mirror designs that help widen the space or even a simple indoor plant display that helps bring life to the environment. Water running down a glass panel in a reception area dividing the space completely invites one into the room and allows them to feel relaxed and welcome.

ALL THINGS WOVEN AND WICKER

What exactly is wicker?

Apart from being a BEAUTIFUL material… “wicker furniture may be crafted out of different materials such as bamboo, straw and even rattan. Recently, synthetic materials are also being used for manufacturing wicker furniture.” – Homedit.com

Headboards

Why not add a bit of fun to your bedroom by using woven or wicker headboards? These beautifully handcrafted headboards are sure to make a feature out of any bedroom you use them in. If you are not a fan of the natural look, these headboards can always be painted. In any colour you desire! The following headboards are all different shapes and sizes, using different weaving techniques.

Seating

Indoors or outside: wicker is a wonderful material to use in your home. If treated in the right way, it may last for years upon years! Peacock chairs are stunning features and will too, make a feature in your home. “Although the origins of the Peacock Chair have been widely debated, most accounts trace the throne-like chair to Asia,” explains the book. “It is likely to have originated in the Philippines, which is why it is often referred to as the Manila or Philippine Chair.” – phaidon

Other Wicker Furniture

Putting together this blog post was awfully hard, as there are so many beautiful images out there. This last category is a mix of some of our other favourite ways of adding woven and wicker items to your space. Coffee and side tables, baskets, cabinets and wall art are just a few examples of how you can add this style to your space. We sure do love them all!

A Soothing Space in Westville

mood board

photos of the space

Kirsty Badenhorst Interiors was hired to do the interior design concept for a living area for a client in Westville. The clients wanted a stand out space with interest. The space needed to speak to the surroundings and incorporate nature in its style. It was a long space that needed a division without interrupting the Feng Shui and airflow in the room.

.

The moodboard represents the look and feel of the space. Neutral tones have been used throughout the design. A combination of jade tones have been incorporated to add colour and interest to the design. Black has been added in order to add contrast to the space. The lighter tones such as greys and whites help brighten the space and make it appear bigger. The above renders show how the Feng Shui concept has been incorporated into the design. This has been done through the use of natural elements. These elements include plants, woods and crystals.

.

The main problem that the room faced was that it was long and narrow. A custom designed cutout screen was used to divide the two spaces, namely: the living and dining areas. The screen can be seen through, opposed to a solid piece. This has been done in order to connect the two spaces, without making the spaces feel smaller.
