Staircases are often a focal point in a design. Consequently, there are so many different types of staircases that could be used in a space. This depends on the structure of the space, the design of the space and of course, the look of the space. In this blog post we will be outlining a few types of modern staircases that are sure to make a statement in your space.

Floating Staircase

.

Floating stairs are a modern form of staircase design that makes the stairs appear as if they are floating. However, they are anchored from a point onto another, in order to be structurally sound and safe. The following images are beautiful examples of popular staircases.

Spiral Staircase

.

Spiral stairs are often used in smaller spaces, as their length is much shorter than that of a standard, rectangular staircase. These stairs are used less frequently as main staircases as they are more difficult to walk up and down on. Therefore, we advise that the use of these stairs should be in a space where they are used less frequently than the main stairs in the space.

Staircase Storage

.

For some of us, space is a very important factor of a design. Staircases can often be bulky, and take up space that could be used for storage. However, we may have the perfect solution: staircases with storage. Built in cupboards under the stairs is a great way to incorporate more storage in a space. Use them to store shoes, clothes, boxes or even that bulky Christmas tree!

Staircase Materials

.

There are so many different materials one could use in a staircase. The following images each have a different material used, namely: marble, concrete, wood, copper, metal and carpet. Ultimately, this is determined by the type of space, and the look of the space.
