Mediterranean Style: What’s all the fuss about?

Casual, relaxed and laid back are a few of the words that may come to mind when you think of a Mediterranean style space. This style encapsulates the Mediterranean, which countries include Greece, Italy and Spain. White houses, stone paved pathways, tropical plants and crystal clear turquoise waters are a few of the sites that can be seen in the Mediterranean. We cannot think of a better way to dream about being in this space, other than enticing you with the following images and ways to get the look.

Ceiling

Bamboo slatted roofs are both durable and beautiful. The small light leaks that come through into the space will make you feel like you are in the Mediterranean! This helps bring lightness and air into the space. This will help it feel cool on those hot summer days. It will also help shield you from the sun, without completely blocking out the light.

Lighting

There are so many different ways to incorporate Mediterranean style lighting onto your patio. Woven basket like lights are beautiful, and will help give your space a rustic feel. Wall sconces are a great idea to provide some soft light for entertaining at night. We love the following lighting on these patios!

Seating

Seating is a very important part of a patio. The following images show various different ways to have seating on your patio. Hanging chairs, day beds, dining seating and couches. The possibilities are endless. Different textures can be used and combined. Materials suited to this style are: rattan, woods, and light coloured fabric.

The Mediterranean may not be so far away after all!
